WSN Illustrated magazine no longer published

Unfortunately, the economics of publishing and mailing the WSN Illustrated magazine are no longer feasible, and the last issue was published in the winter of 2014.

WSN Illustrated magazine

WSN Illustrated (WSNi) is a publication that positively promotes student-athletes around the state of Wisconsin in a format that is unique to the high school sports landscape. Formerly Wisconsin Preps Illustrated it is now in its 4th year, articles featuring athletes and coaches are in depth and accompanied by glossy, close-up action photos. It is the only magazine in the state that is dedicated 100% to Wisconsin student-athletes.

WSNi is published four times during the school year and is distributed free to high school across the state. The format of the magazine is an oversized, full-color layout, similar in look to that of a national sports publication.

From WSNi Creator Laura Ritchie
My favorite memories of high school were going with my Dad the morning after a tennis match and picking up the local paper to see what was written about our match (particularly to find out if my own name was mentioned). It was so exciting to get this kind of acknowledgment for my tenaciousness to my sport and I will be forever grateful to our hometown sports writer, Ray Halstead, for being at a million events at the same time, making sure all sports were covered adequately.

I would like to reproduce that kind of experience for other athletes in an even more exciting and engaging format, allowing readers statewide to hear more in depth stories of the athletes that are excelling in WIAA sports. I also want to give freelance writers, photographers, and graphic design experts I’ve worked with an opportunity to showcase their best work in a compelling format they can be proud of.
